About

Will Shortz,  the New York Times crossword puzzle editor, once told me in an interview while discussing solution strategies,  “It’s your puzzle; solve it any way you want.”

Now those are words to live by — I certainly do.

My name is Danielle Hipps, and I’m an education and county writer for The Coastal Courier in Hinesville, Georgia. I’m learning how the navigate government coverage and hoping to “keep ’em honest.”

Before landing this gig, I worked as an online news producer and freelance writer for The Gainesville Sun for a year and some months.

Before that, I logged ten months as an editorial intern and social media/online guru with INsite Gainesville magazine, working my way up to assistant editor.

I also worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional intern, with Orlando public relations firm Bitner Hennessy, and served as one of two executive editors for a student capstone magazine, Orange & Blue, during the fall of 2010.

I’m interested in music, politics, movies, celebrities and the role of the media in our society. My blog is both a collection of my thoughts on media-related news and a place for me to discuss whatever else may come to mind.
